The remaining buildings at BV need temporary stabilization— do you know any conservators/preservationists/skilled artisans who might volunteer their time? Any college professors supervising graduate internships? Have you met any bored millionaires lately, itching for something else to do?— like adopting the most marketable Tourist Attraction in Ventura County?
Preserve Bottle Village is on its own. Grandma had no involvement with bureaucracy and red tape, she just did it, so we think it's a good thing. Again and again we've heard the same clear message " No Taxpayer Money for Bottle Village— they need Private Funding" Okay, okay, we get it and WE'LL DO IT!
Grandma Prisbrey's Bottle Village can be Simi Valley's "Bridge to Somewhere"— somewhere very special, without having to hide any of those pork barrels.
Saving, preserving, and taking care of Bottle Village has been a 30+ year march through a minefield of assaults, a tangled mess of red tape, snakes-in-the grass, and pit bulls with or without lipstick. It has also been the most interesting, rewarding and down-right best place to meet some of the world's most fascinating, hardworking, and unique people.
Ponder this for a moment...Why has the Bottle Village project taken so long and been so difficult when E.T.'s already been here, phoned home and left, Dorothy made it back to Kansas, Indy Jones and Bambi survived while Jaws and the T-Rex met their spectacular demise. Yep, we need a bigger boat— filled with... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
